Introduction | Perpetual Learning | Uses of Data | Support System | Support Materials Perpetual Learning A distinguishing characteristic of highly effective leaders, according to Bennis and Nanus, is that they are perpetual learners. They are secure in themselves and feel comfortable learning in their working environment. Feedback is a process that helps these leaders continue to grow and to model perpetual learning. These leaders lead by example and capitalize on the internal and external environments as a catalyst for change and renewal. When leaders develop strategies for using feedback in a positive and productive manner, they are demonstrating that they value people and that they are willing to learn in their working environments. Thus, they are modeling their belief in the importance of being perpetual learners. Incorporating a systematic process for collecting organizational data from all key administrative units on an annual basis fortifies an organizational expectation that all leaders can and should continue to grow professionally. top | back | next | |||
